Preserving an ancient art

Hi I am Jo and welcome to Floating Seed, where tradition meets creativity. My passion for paper and fabric marbling began with a deep desire to preserve this beautiful and endangered craft. Marbling is an ancient technique that transforms simple materials into mesmerising, one-of-a-kind patterns—each piece a unique dance of colour and movement.

Sharing the magic

I believe marbling should be shared, not forgotten. That’s why I not only create stunning marbled products for everyday use but also share my knowledge so that this art form can continue to inspire future generations. Once you learn the basics, marbling is an accessible and joyful process, and I love the challenge of bringing it into modern life through handmade, functional creations. Explore my collection, learn about this fascinating craft, and join me in celebrating the magic of marbling.

where the magic happens

the studio

I am based in South West France in the rolling countryside of the Charente region, where cognac vineyards and sunflower fields surround our 18th century farmhouse. My studio is a converted piggery where I marble and make all the creations to bring this ancient craft into your the lives and homes.

I recently purchased some lovely cards, pens and notebooks and I love the creative marbling designs. I will be back to buy more for friends and family, Thank you - 5 stars.
